Ariel, a British manufacturer renowned for its innovative sports cars, has introduced the E-Nomad, an electric version of its Nomad 2 off-roader. If the E-Nomad moves beyond the concept stage, it could carve out a unique space in the electric vehicle (EV) market.
Despite its electric powertrain, the E-Nomad retains its rugged, bold design. It stands tall with a bug-eyed appearance, thanks to its unique headlight configuration, and features wheels that extend beyond the body. This crossover between sports cars, SUVs, and dune buggies is unlike anything else on the road.
The rear-mounted electric motor produces 281 horsepower and 361 pound-feet of torque, powering the vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. This is on par with the gasoline-powered Nomad 2, which uses a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine.
One of the advantages of the E-Nomad's relatively small 41-kilowatt-hour battery is its fast-charging capability, reaching 80% charge in under 25 minutes using a fast charger. The concept’s body panels are crafted from flax fibers, which are strong, eco-friendly, and lighter than carbon fiber.
While still a concept, Ariel’s director, Simon Saunders, hinted at future production possibilities, depending on customer feedback.

Ariel has revealed the E-Nomad, an electric take on its Nomad 2 off-road vehicle, hinting at the potential for a new category in the electric vehicle market. Although still in its concept phase, the E-Nomad could soon become a reality.
True to its off-road heritage, the E-Nomad boasts a daring design. With its high ground clearance, bug-eye headlights, and wheels that extend outward, it blurs the lines between SUVs, sports cars, and dune buggies.
Powered by a 281-horsepower electric motor, the E-Nomad accelerates to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, rivaling the performance of its gas-powered sibling. Its 41-kilowatt-hour battery charges quickly, taking the pack from 20% to 80% in just 25 minutes on a fast charger.
Sustainability is a priority, with flax fiber body panels reducing drag and cutting weight. The concept weighs around 1,975 pounds, 400 pounds more than the gas-powered version, and offers a 150-mile range.
Ariel's director, Simon Saunders, has indicated the E-Nomad may see production, depending on customer reactions to the concept. Report this page
